Yu-Gi-Oh!: True Meaning behind Pendulum

Description

I still can't get over how much ARC-V is like Decade. I've also noticed that many people have asked two questions about ARC-V: 1) Did Duel Monsters (the first series) have it's own dimension in ARC-V like GX, 5D's and ZEXAL did? & 2) If alternate versions of rivals from previous series appeared in ARC-V, then where are the protagonists (Yugi, Judai, Yusei, and Yuma)? The answers are simple.

1) Duel Monsters DOES have its own dimension: the Standard Dimension. After Zarc split the world into four, the Standard dimension started out as the dimension where only Normal and Effect monsters existed, not to mention that they also had the Classic KC Duel Disks and other elements that mirror those of Duel Monsters.

2) Going back on what I said about how ARC-V is like Decade, the reason that Yugi and the others don't appear in ARC-V is because they were replaced with Yuya and his counterparts. Yuya replaced Yugi, Yuto replaced Yuma, Yugo replaced Yusei, and Yuri replaced Judai.

All that being said, I realized why the Pendulum played the role that it did in ARC-V. In Kamen Rider Decade, Decade's role was to destroy and connect the worlds of his Kamen Rider predecessors. This is similar to what ARC-V did. Zarc claimed that after the world split into the four dimensions, the Pendulum was created as a means to defeat Ray the next time they fought each other, and according to Ray, the darkness of humanity embodied by Zarc and the Four Dragons combined with the light of the Natural Energy Cards that resets life is what created the Pendulum.

But the real reason the Pendulum was created is this: The world that was split into four dimensions based on the previous series needed a way to make itself, Zarc, and Ray whole again.

So the Pendulum, which manifested itself in physical form, eventually came into the hands of Yuya Sakaki in the Standard Dimension and by the time the first Pendulum monsters were made, the Standard Dimension already became a world that contained FusionSynchro, and Xyz monsters as well as the Normal monsters, but was still not whole yet. After the Pendulum awakened, Yuya's quest began and the Pendulum user made his way through the different dimensions to make himself and the world whole again, even becoming the demon destined to destroy it in the process.

Long story short, even though Leo Akaba's machine (also named ARC-V) fused the dimensions back together, it was ultimately Yuya that made the world whole again by destroying, reclaiming and connecting the powers of his predecessors using the power of the Pendulum.

That is also why all Pendulum Monsters, whether they start from the Main Deck or the Extra Deck, have half of their borders colored green, as you can probably see in the photo.
